There are some Saturday mornings at the coffee shop on my block that are flat-out annoying. And it's not because the baristas got my order wrong. It's solely because I can't choose between ordering a salty, everything-seasoned bagel with scallion cream cheese or one of the fluffy, sweet-glazed donuts from the pastry counter. First world problems, I know. But if you've ever been stuck with the task of deciding between savory and sweet, you know the struggle is real sometimes.

But a new donut from the artful team behind The Doughnut Project have solved this conundrum by developing a sweet-and-savory donut that's made to taste like an everything bagel. And before you turn up your nose in disgust, think about it for a second: cream cheese frosting. Plus a dash of sea salt. Yes, please.

The fried rings are also showered in sesame seeds, poppy seeds, pepitas (pumpkin seeds), and garlic. We know it sounds strange, but the seasoning mix even makes monkey bread better. It's simultaneously a head-scratching and totally genius concept from a Manhattan bakery that's known for churning out madcap creations like maple-bacon eclairs and beet-and-ricotta–glazed donuts. But it's the everything bagel seasoned sweet that's getting attention for both its brilliance and quirkiness: "People are already arguing about it, which I think is wonderful," co-owner Troy Neal toldGothamist. "I knew we kind of hit a chord a little bit because not everybody's on board, or they're a little skeptical about what it's going to be like."

The donut just made its debut at the shop yesterday, but we think it could even give those internet-breaking rainbow bagels a run for their money — literally.
