It's been more than a decade since the Hamburglar was last spotted, and he's been on the lam ever since. But in a new McDonald's commercial, it looks like he's going back to a life of hamburger crime.

The fast-food chain brought back its spokesvillain to promote its Sirloin Third Pound Burgers, but he's received one heck of a makeover. He's no longer a cartoonish puppet, but a model-handsome trickster who can fit in as a regular neighborhood dad firing up the grill.

"We felt it was time to debut a new look for the Hamburglar after he's been out of the public eye all these years," Joel Yashinsky, McDonald's' Vice President of U.S. Marketing, told Mashable. "He's had some time to grow up a bit and has been busy raising a family in the suburbs and his look has evolved over time."

He'll reportedly pop up in television ads and online videos, and pop up on social media using the hashtag #RobbleRobble. But so far, online reactions have been mixed, to say the least.

Hipster Hamburglar is in luck: According to the company, the burgers he's promoting will be 100% sourced from North American beef. It's not quite artisanal, but it's close.
